On Tuesday, July 7, AmericanHort advocacy committee member and Arizona Nursery Association (ANA) President Tyler Francis, along with ANA Executive Director Cheryl Goar, had the opportunity to participate in an Ag Roundtable with Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue. The event, organized by Sen. Martha McSally, allowed them and other representatives from agricultural commodity groups and The University of Arizona to speak about the importance of the H-2A and H-2B programs to the nursery industry. Tyler and Cheryl also advocated for the nursery and floriculture industry to be eligible for the USDA’s Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). Although coordinated by Sen. McSally, due to a death in her family, she was represented by staff, and Tyler was able to give copies of the AmericanHort CFAP letter directly to them.
