AmericanHort Participates in Farm Workforce Modernization Act Introduction
On October 30, a bipartisan group of House lawmakers introduced H.R.4916, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. A total of 44 lawmakers – 24 Democrats and 20 Republicans – joined as original cosponsors, which is rather remarkable in the face of the sharp partisan divides on virtually every issue in Washington these days. House Judiciary Immigration Subcommittee chairwoman Zoe Lofgren listed the original cosponsors in a news release heralding the bill introduction.
The AmericanHort advocacy team joined coalition efforts to secure original cosponsorships for the bill. The effort saw coalition partners engage almost three dozen mostly Republican offices last Tuesday alone — resulting in a substantial, bipartisan list of cosponsors.
The meetings were capped off by a standing room-only press conference on Tuesday, where the audience heard primarily from Chairwoman Zoe Lofgren and Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA). Lofgren specifically lauded AmericanHort efforts and support from the podium.

The House Judiciary Committee may consider the legislation during the week of November 11. After that, it may be brought to the House floor for debate and a vote.
