Since the publication of the last edition, progress has been made in supporting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel in their tireless work to inspect cargoes for invasive pests. The Protecting America’s Food & Agriculture Act of 2019 (S.2107/H.R. 4482) helped to address these needs by authorizing funding to hire the additional Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel needed to conduct Agriculture Quarantine Inspection at America’s international ports of entry.

On Monday, February 10, the House passed the Senate’s bill by voice vote—sending the legislation to the White House for President Trump’s signature before becoming law. AmericanHort was joined by 156 other organizations on a letter supporting this bill. A final copy of the letter can be found here.
