  • Getting the Most Out of Your Online Conference Registration – DIG Edition

Despite getting plenty of practice this year with virtual events, many of us still find online conferences to be a bit daunting. Here at AmericanHort, we are so excited to be bringing you the online DIG Conference: Disease, Insects, and Growth Regulators and believe that the 20+ grower education sessions, panels, and, networking events will be invaluable as you plan your Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) strategies for 2021. To help set you up for success, we’ve compiled some great tips for attending the online conference.

Block off your calendar.
Get the most out of your registration and minimize distractions by blocking November 3-5 off on your calendar.

Engage!
We have an amazing lineup of dynamic speakers and panelists coming to DIG. Use the Chat and Q&A functions in the education sessions to ask your questions and idea-share with other attendees. And make sure to join us for the peer-to-peer Coffee Chats and Industry Interaction Roundtables to discuss IPM & PGR management challenges and solutions. You can even engage with other growers before, during, and after the event on the DIG Facebook Group.

Prioritize live over on-demand.
The on-demand and live education sessions both have equally relevant information, but if you have a limited time, it’s a good idea to prioritize attending the live education over the on-demand. During the live sessions, you can interact with other attendees and the speakers will be available to answer any questions you might have. But don’t worry, both the live and on-demand education recordings will be available until December 31.

Snacks!
This is a very important tip that will keep you fueled up and ready to learn!

Attend as a group.
Since the DIG Conference is online, no travel is required and registering your entire grower team is not only feasible but also highly recommended. Attendees get more out of an online conference when they have a peer to share thoughts and ideas with. For this reason, AmericanHort is offering discounted registrations to member companies who register a group to attend DIG.

Stretch!And find a comfy spot with a non-distracting background.
You’ll want to make the most of your registration by attending as much of the education, panels, and networking events as possible – but there is no reason you can’t do that from your comfy chair in the corner… Be sure to get up and walk around between sessions to keep your mind active and ready to learn.

Shut the door and use a Do Not Disturb sign.
It’s hard to engage in a session with interruptions. Putting up a Do Not Disturb sign will help you make sure that, if there is an interruption, it’s an important one.

Schedule time to review the resources and watch anything you missed during the live event.
There is so much going on at the DIG Conference that you’ll want to be sure to go back and review what you saw and anything that you missed. The DIG Conference Platform is available until December 31 so take a moment to schedule time in your calendar to go back to watch anything you missed and download resources before they’re gone.
